Your Vote Can Help the Homeless!

Christ Church priest-in-residence, Peter Peters, is asking for our help to make a Tiny House project in Rochester possible for those affected by chronic homelessness. The Tiny House Project seeks to provide very low income individuals, particularly veterans, with affordable permanent housing. This funding would build a prototype house to advance the creation of a Tiny House community in Rochester.

Celebration of the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

Dr. King called Local 1199 "my favorite union," addressing its Delegates just a few weeks before his death.  Coretta Scott King became the Honorary Chairperson of Local 1199 shortly after and called on the union to leave New York City and organize health care workers across the nation.  1199 in Rochester is one product of that project.  The union was started here in 1973 at UR's Strong Memorial Hospital.  The workers began holding a Dr. King remembrance at URMC every year starting in 1981, initially on his birthday of January 15, and later on the national holiday.

 In my Convention address, I had mentioned the formation of a task force on Racial Reconciliation, Healing and Justice (RRHJ) for our Diocese.  After a series of meetings exploring ways to clarify our goals and organize this formation opportunity, I am happy to introduce to you the Commission on RRHJ. The Commission will guide us in studying, praying, and thinking of concrete ideas to articulate a clear vision. We are discerning a three-pronged approach and have assigned subcommittees focusing on top priorities.

A Wonderful Mission in St. Peter's Geneva

St. Peter's Geneva has invested in their community, offering. Neighborhood Night and Community Arts Academy on Wednesdays.  Kids share bible stories, songs, crafts and a hot meal, while the Arts Academy offers music & dance lessons.  The adult, high school and youth choirs also attend choir practice in the nave of the church.
