Exciting News from Bishop Singh!
Dear saints,
In this season when we are all dealing with several stresses, I am happy to share some good news! We plan to Ordain Reverend Deacon Josh Barrett as a priest in God’s holy, catholic and apostolic church! On August 15, 2020, at 11AM, God willing and the people consenting, Josh will be ordained at an outdoor liturgy in the park across the street from Episcopal Church of the Redeemer in Addison, NY.
I am honored to appoint Josh as Pastoral Leader of Church of the Redeemer in Addison, as well as Pastoral Associate of Christ Church in Corning, with the enthusiastic affirmation of both Vestries. To further explain, he will split his time as Pastoral Leader of Redeemer, and assist Rev. Troy Preston of Christ Church, working to provide each church the needed pastoral care, inspirational teaching, preaching, and spiritual leadership. This joint tenure combining two part-time positions has been made possible by the discernment of leaders from both parishes and with the support of Congregational Development Partnership grants. These grants are made possible in large part due to your generous giving across the Diocese through your pledges and other offerings. The fact that you are supporting your congregation despite this pandemic is a clear testimony of your spiritual priorities. I thank you for this personally and most sincerely!
Josh said: “I am thrilled to be partnering with the Spirit moving in these two communities. I look forward to the opportunity to grow in faith and serve in our context for the sake of the Gospel. It is such a gift to begin my ordained ministry in this time and place.” (Read more about Josh)
Mary Lou Hunt-Quintal, Warden at Church of the Redeemer adds: “As Wardens, Sandy VanWormer and I, along with the Vestry of Church of the Redeemer are excited to announce the new Ministry of Rev. Joshua Barrett starting July 1, 2020. We are also excited that Josh will be shared with our neighbors at Christ Church, Corning and mentor with the Rev. Troy Preston.“
Rev. Troy Preston of Christ Church, says: “We are thrilled that Josh will be joining us in ministry. His energy, passion, deep faith, and skill will be a blessing as we continue to boldly proclaim God's love both in Addison and in Corning. This is an exciting opportunity for Josh as well as Church of the Redeemer, Addison and Christ Church, Corning. We are all looking forward to his arrival and upcoming ordination to the priesthood.“
Josh will engage in the diocesan program of coaching, mentoring, and learning with the help of his Circle of Support as he begins his new ministry. We commend the churches, Josh and his Circle to your prayer.
With affection,
Prince
