Sunday, September 20th, 2026, St. John’s Episcopal Church of Catharine celebrates its 216th anniversary at the four corners of Catharine outside Odessa, NY, during a special 8:45 AM service. Father David Hanselman, Rector, officiates, bringing an encompassing vision of God’s love to a very small rural community.

The history is amazing for a little-known church in an agricultural community. It all started with settlers from Connecticut after the Revolutionary War, starting a mill. Some of the founding fathers and families are buried less than a quarter mile from the church. Some of those founding families’ relatives still live in the region. Special music by bagpiper Emily Grimmke-Peckham will be played as a procession comes from the founding fathers cemetery to the church.

For your GPS the address is 4938 County Road 14, Odessa. The location is at the four corners of County Road 14 & 15 at Catharine Corners outside Odessa.
