New York State’s Medical Aid in Dying (MAiD) Legislation takes effect August 5, 2026. Clergy members are likely to be asked to provide spiritual care for persons and families in which MAiD is being considered in terminal illness. This panel presentation will provide valuable perspectives from medical ethics, theology, law, and pastoral psychology to support clergy in spiritual care now that MAiD is possible in NY.
