"I am excited and grateful to have received consents from bishops and dioceses across the church," Bishop-elect Wagner Sherer said. "It is a reminder that we trust that the Holy Spirit works through our church's organization and democracy and that bishops are flesh and blood symbols of our unity and community in the world. I am looking forward to being with you as your Bishop-elect, to deepen our relationships, and in the power of the Spirit, continue to restore all people to unity with God and each other in Christ. I continue to keep you and your communities in my prayers and I ask your prayers for me and my family as we say goodbye, move, and transition to the Diocese of Rochester. I look forward to seeing you on July 13th (in person or online) if not before!"
President of the Standing Committee, Elizabeth Salamone said, "We are greatly looking forward to the Bishop-elect Wagner Sherer's ordination and consecration. I can't say thank you enough to those who have, and continue to work tirelessly toward this end, particularly the Discernment and Nominating Committee, Transition Committee, and staff of the Diocese."
Bishop-elect Kara Wagner Sherer and her family are in the process of relocating to Rochester. She will join the diocesan staff in early June and the entire diocese will joyfully celebrate her consecration and ordination in July.
