Boy Scouts of America / Claims
Dear Members,
The Episcopal Diocese of Rochester and a handful of our churches are aware of certain claims asserting abuse of minors that participated in Boy Scouts of America (BSA) scouting activities in the 1940's-1970's. These are part of a number of claims that are currently being asserted against BSA organizations nationwide and, secondarily, against certain chartered organizations, such as churches, that may have hosted and sponsored scout troops.
We take these matters very seriously and have deep compassion for all victims of abuse. The Diocese and the churches that have received notice of these claims are resolving them appropriately, including in the BSA bankruptcy that is currently underway. The Episcopal Diocese underscores our ongoing commitment to ensure the safety of all our members, communities, and children who participate in church activities.
