Christians in the bond of community seeking to serve the world in the love of God

A message from Bishop Kara following Election Day

Dear Friends,

As we contemplate and respond to the outcome of our elections, I pray for us to have the heart of discernment, assured that God is sovereign, that the life of Christ is the life we are to live, and that the Holy Spirit is with us to comfort and strengthen us. Our mission remains the same: to feed the hungry, heal the sick, visit the prisoners, be good news for the poor, and let the oppressed go free. Love is the way, the truth, and the life. Love never ends.

O God, you made us in your own image and redeemed us through Jesus your Son: Look with compassion on the whole human family; take away the arrogance and hatred that infect our hearts; break down the walls that separate us; unite us in bonds of love; and work through our struggle and confusion to accomplish your purposes on earth; that, in your good time, all may serve you in harmony around your heavenly throne; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

This prayer may be used in a variety of ways, such as the collect of the day or the concluding collect after the Prayers of the People.
